    At Life Insurance Company of the Southwest, we introduced our new Guaranteed Lifetime Income Rider on our single premium indexed annuities. Our sales desk was immediately flooded with calls from our agents. Unfortunately, the average call was 30 to 40 minutes, and the agents still had a difficult time understanding this new rider. We were slammed with long wait times and frustrated agents. We developed a Brainshark on the rider and how it works with our annuities. It was very successful and well received by our field associates. When an agent or independent marketing organization called our Sales Desk about the rider, we immediately sent them the Brainshark.     In May of 2007 we began using Brainshark. After the initial usage we felt the resource was worthy of more attention than we were giving it simply because of the ease of reaching so many distributors with a controlled and refined message. In September 2007 we began focusing on bringing content that is delivered weekly in the form of live webinars to the Brainshark platform. Within a 3 month period we were able to develop training and sales content that was solely used in seminar and webinar formats to the Brainshark format. Next, we developed a landing page so all of our distributor training was available 24/7. To further this, our distibutors who have distributors of their own, began posting our content on their websites to train employees, brokers, agents, as well as their contracted distributors. We had gone from zero Brainshark views per month to 2500 in a short period of time. Next we started developing consumer content to help our distributors sell our products to their clients instead of a competitors product. In May of 2008 two of our top five viewed Brainsharks were consumer sharks and total views were just under 5200! Development of additional product consumer sharks is going on right now.

    My tale of Brainshark is very simple and sweet. It is all about how technology in this world is now very crucial in this industry. I am a insurance consultant, and I know I don't have to tell you how exciting this business is. I am also new to the industry, so my challenges have been five fold to break into this business running. While attending my corporate training, I had discovered we had this service. In a brief survey of some of the other agents around the office, I learned and interesting thing. I knew I was new to this in regards to my age, but now I discoved I could be new with my technique. The old boys, as we'll call them, had no interest in such nonsense as Brainshark. I, on the other hand, saw an opportunity. The old school boys, who have large books of business, still roll on the route 66 highway. A network or guys so strong that a martini at happy hour was bringing in BOR letters the next day. This, of course, was not happening for me... no matter how many happy hours I went to. The discovery of how business has changed prompted me to try Plan B. A phone call and a smiling face wasn't getting me anywhere. I needed another way in.

    I set up my brainshark on a Wednesday. I, who had done some DJing while in college, quickly cut through that script like a sixty second spot for Rolaids. I was going to cure peoples' pains. I was going to do it with the enthusiasm of attending the super bowl. I now skipped the receptionist peering over the counter at me as I walked into a new prospect. I avoided the interrogation on the phone, when I tried to speak with the decision maker. I simply now got the prospect to hear my voice, see my face, and do it all on THEIR own time. I had my first appointment set up on Friday. I now have a system of using mailings and my Brainshark. The old boys are all flustered and still mock my new methods.
